Castlevania and Doom merge into one game

Castlevania: Simon's Destiny is a standalone mod that allows you to relive the experience and adventures of the original Castlevania, the NES one, from a first-person perspective and with the Doom engine. This means that, among other things, the 2D settings of Konami's foundational title have become spectacular 3D labyrinths that you will be able to go through at your leisure, whip in hand.

Easy to configure

As mentioned, Castlevania: Simon's Destiny is a standalone mod. This means that you will not need to have any Doom II or The Ultimate Doom files in order to play. What you will need to have installed is GZDoom. As is common with these types of mods, simply drag the Castlevania.ipk3 file to the GZDoom executable to start playing. Again, it is important to emphasize that you will not need anything else. Unlike other similar mods, this one does not require any additional files.

The first Castlevania reinvented

Although Castlevania: Simon's Destiny does not attempt to be an exact 3D copy of the original Castlevania, it does stay fairly true to its spirit. The game begins with Simon Belmont, the protagonist, outside the castle. As soon as you walk through the doors, you will be faced with zombies, skeletons, wolves, bats and other much more dangerous enemies. Fortunately, from the beginning of the adventure, you will have your whip, which you can use to take down your enemies from a safe distance. You will also be able to use the legendary secondary weapons of the saga, such as knives, the stopwatch or axes.

A complete experience from start to finish

Some mods offer a small taste of what is to come or simply fall a little short. That is not the case with Castlevania: Simon's Destiny. The game offers a complete experience, which can easily take you four or five hours. Throughout the adventure, you will be able to go through all the legendary settings of the first Castlevania and, more importantly, you will be able to face its most memorable bosses. Due to the change of perspective from 2D to 3D, in addition, battles against these special enemies will be as novel as they are complex. You will need a lot of skill to defeat some of the tougher opponents.

Download Castlevania: Simon's Destiny to discover one of the best combinations of video games imaginable: Doom and Castlevania. It is a spectacular mod in every way and a project that has clearly had a lot of effort and care put into it; all this in just over 70MB.
